Unexpected
Pleasures

El
Sol to whom we will kowtow
Keenly becomes our best friend now
The sunlight through palm fronds filter
Three days ago, I shoveled snow
To just pick up some things and go
Throws my senses out of kilter
The odd day off just didn’t do
To kid our cabin fever blue
A full week away will suffice
Yesterday spent just riding bikes
Most of today was on a hike
To see him relax feels so nice
Keen
suit and ties away from here
Proper to the point of austere
Reclines gently on the lawn chair
I marvel the serenity
In his new found ability
The knack to wear Brazilian air
The
kerb caffeine he always craves
Forgotten with the daily shave
All cares of home the sun dispels
Choosing the kiwis over pears
Quietly kneads them while he’s there
Two days of sun have tanned him well
Nectar
slips down from my love’s chin
Back on the fruit that’s held within
The careful arch that is his hand
The juice dripping between fingers
To a place where my eyes linger
An invitation to command
My
mind’s on the new forming drop
Can I lick it before it plops
So distracted I just can’t think
It’s not as if he had to pause
For me to rise up to the cause
He opens wide to me and winks
I realize it’s a gift to me
This new bending reality
To be a personal keepsake
Fruit juice drips down my kinky hair
Where kiwi drips, he kisses there,
a keynote to reciprocate
